Kolt's blessing

We hoped that Kolt would be baptised at one of two family reunions.  But we weren't sure if Todd would be able to go until the last minute.  So arrangments weren't made.  When we found out that my sister would be in town, we quickly made plans to finally bless Kolten Darrell Nef.
We blessed him in our ward.  This was a first for us!!  All the girls were blessed at family reunions.  In attendance we had our family, Grandma Julie, Cyntha and Sean Brady and their kids, Dorothy and Jonathan Mitchell and their foster kids, Grandma and Grandpa Tingey, Grandpa Mike and Granny Sandy, and my cousin Cami and her family.
It was the first time Uncle Sean got to stand in the circle without being the daddy.  It meant a lot to us too.  Kolten's middle name is Darrell after Todd's grandpa's name.  Todd's grandpa was an amazing man.  The man Todd admires most in this life.  We miss him a lot.  When Todd was young and was really having a hard time, he would end up at Grandma's and Grandpa's just two hours north of Rigby where he grew up.  He found peace there.  And would enjoy his grandma's cooking and working with his grandpa on his cattle ranch.  I remember everytime we visited, when we'd go to leave, grandpa would put his arms around me and tell me what an amazing husband I have.  Todd thinks he said this to all his grandchildren, but I know he meant it.  Grandpa Nef was cheerful, hard working, and loving.  There is no one better I can think to name my son after although we have many wonderful men to choose from.
It wouldn't surprise me if Kolt grows up to be like him.  He sweet and cheerful.  He really is a very good baby.  He warms my heart.  I have often wondered how much is nature, how much is nurture, and how much a child gains from what he or she is named.
No matter why he is the way he is, we are very excited that he is part of our family.  He has stolen our hearts.  And we are so glad God sent him to us.  Even his sisters are completely wrapped around him or wrapped up in him.
